A big shout out to the amazing team at South West Pilates for the Reformer classes they provide.

The instructors, Veronica, Jacqui, Taryn, Monica & Joelle, are knowledgeable & each bring a slightly different approach to each of their classes. But they all provide a friendly, fun, safe, helpful & reassuring environment for everyone (regardless of age) to be individually challenged to meet their health goal/s & within a small group setting.

I highly recommend to anyone looking to take that first step into reformer pilates &/or looking to get back into it, to give South West Pilates a call. You won't regret it! 🧘‍♀️

Such a lovely setting. Smaller groups makes for a much better experience IMO. All the ladies are so experienced and ensure you are using equipment correctly and therefore safely and modify activities to your fitness/capacity/recovery. Been to a few pilates clinics in the past and South West Pilates is a cut above. Just love it. Do yourself a favour and get in there.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need experience to join a reformer Pilates class?

Not at all! Our group reformer Pilates classes are suitable for all experience levels, from complete beginners to seasoned practitioners. Our qualified instructors will guide you through the exercises, tailoring movements to your abilities and goals to ensure you feel confident and supported.

What should I wear to a reformer Pilates class?

We recommend wearing comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely. This helps your instructor observe your alignment during the exercises. Grip socks are also required for safety and hygiene on the reformer machine, and they help you maintain stability during movements.

What are the benefits of reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates offers numerous benefits, including:

        • Improved core strength and stability.
        • Increased flexibility and mobility.
        • Better posture and alignment.
        • Relief from joint and muscle pain.
        • Enhanced overall strength and balance.

Can reformer Pilates help with joint and muscle pain?

Yes! Reformer Pilates is an excellent option for managing joint and muscle pain. The controlled, low-impact movements strengthen supporting muscles, improve alignment, and enhance flexibility, which can alleviate discomfort. Our instructors can modify exercises to accommodate your specific needs or limitations.

How often should I do reformer Pilates to see results?

We recommend attending 2–3 classes per week to experience noticeable improvements in your strength, flexibility, and overall wellbeing. However, even one class a week can help you feel better and achieve your fitness goals over time.

Is reformer Pilates safe for people with injuries or medical conditions?

However, we recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before starting if you have specific concerns. Let our instructors know about your needs so they can adjust exercises for your safety.

What is Reformer Pilates, and how is it different from Mat Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a form of Pilates that uses a special piece of equipment called a reformer—a flat, sliding platform with springs, straps, and a footbar. This equipment adds resistance to your movements, helping to deepen your workout and target specific muscle groups more effectively. Reformer Pilates is excellent for improving strength, flexibility, and posture while offering support for those recovering from injuries or dealing with joint and muscle pain.

In contrast, Mat Pilates involves performing exercises on a mat using just your body weight for resistance. While both styles focus on core strength, alignment, and controlled movements, reformer Pilates offers a more dynamic workout with greater versatility, as the machine can be adjusted to suit different fitness levels and goals.

At South West Pilates Warrnambool, our group reformer Pilates classes are designed to help you achieve your health and wellness goals, no matter your experience level. Whether you’re new to Pilates or looking to enhance your practice, the reformer provides a safe, effective, and engaging way to move better and feel stronger.
